So here we are, half way through February and the weather is as cold, grey and damp as ever - will spring ever arrive?

On a positive note, we're on our way out of the recession - well, according to our banker friends we are anyway! But with high street shops closing at an alarming rate (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8177502.stm) and repossessions at an all time high (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8510077.stm) it's difficult to see the upturn.

So how do those of us who have managed to come through what was on all accounts a fairly miserable 2009, prepare for the upturn in the economy and position ourselves for a strong 2010?

Has your website been updated recently?

An alarming amount of websites took a backseat as far as investment and time was concerned last year - and it shows!

If you have a high street shop would you leave the same display in the window for years on end? Would you cancel the window cleaner and ignore the flaking paint on the door frame?

Surely not? So why leave your website to rot and look dated with old and out of date products and news on it?

Your website is your online shop window and as such you need to take the duster out and give it a spring cleaning. You need to audit the content, update the images, amend your service pages and most importantly review your keywords and descriptions to ensure you are optimised for search engines.

You can bet your bottom dollar, pound, euro or whatever currency is holding it's own at the moment that your competitors will be doing this right now - and if they're not, then you certainly need to if you want to take the advantage and make 2010 a year to remember for the right reasons!
